Overton Harriers & AC are keen to encourage both competitive and non-competitive running and athletics for local children.  Our training sessions are varied and split between endurance, speed work and field events, so every child has the opportunity to be involved in different areas of athletics.

Coaching sessions are run by CRB/DBS checked, qualified England Athletics coaches as follows:

Years 3 & 4 (Under 9s) and Years 5 - 10 (Under 11s/ Under 13s / Under 15s):

Saturday mornings 9:30 to 10:30am at Berrydown Sports field, Overton.  All abilities are welcome and the sessions are based around the fundamentals of athletics. During the summer we enter the Wessex Track and Field League and in the winter we take part in the Hampshire Sportshall indoor competition and two cross country leagues.  Please contact Keith Vallis (juniors@overtonharriers.org.uk or 01256 773255) for any queries and to ensure that we have space for new members before you come along.

You can follow us on twitter here

Please note - training dates may vary during school holidays so please contact us before you come along.

If you would like any extra information about any up coming events, click here for our fixtures

Children are welcome to attend sessions on a trial basis before signing up to be a junior member of the Club. Copies of membership forms are available either here.

Please complete the form and return it to one of the coaches, along with £20 yearly subs plus your Overton Recreation Centre membership of £24 (if you are not already a member).  Overton Harriers are affiliated to the Overton Recreation Centre charity which provides and maintains the sporting facilities that we use, so the club requires a parent/carer to be a member of the ORC see - ORCMembershipForm.  By being an ORC member you are automatically entered into the monthly draw to win prizes of between £20 and £1000.

Further information on the ORC and the benefits it brings our available on their website http://orcweb.webs.com/

Sportshall

We enter a composite (combined) team with Andover in both the Under 11 and Under 13 age categories in this indoor athletics league, which sees us compete against other clubs in Hampshire.
Teams must be pre-entered so we need to know names a few days in advance.    There is a minimum age to compete - with entrants needing to be 8 or over on the day of competition.  Each athlete pays £4  on the day.

There are 4 matches each season, all on Sundays, normally starting at around 1pm and finishing by about 4:30pm.  Everybody takes part in a variety of events with their team.  It's a full afternoon and typical events are long or triple jump, speed bounce, chest push, shuttle runs, relay, vertical jump.  Although it is a competitive event, the emphasis is very much on Fun in Athletics, so no experience is necessary - we'll make sure that everybody knows what to do.

Further details for the Hampshire Sportshall events can be found here:
