Combe Gibbet to Overton 2024

We’re sorry to announce that the race on Sunday 7th April has been cancelled.

We went out to mark the course this morning. Several sections of the course are extremely muddy, and some have deep water. Coupled with an adverse weather forecast for Sunday (40mph winds for much of the race) we have decided that we cannot safely run the race.

The Combe Gibbet is a stunning and challenging 16 mile cross country race through the beautiful Berkshire and Hampshire countryside.  It’s an ideal race to prepare for the spring marathon season and for people looking to do half and full Ironman triathlons in the summer.

The race starts at 14.00 on Sunday 7th April 2024 from Combe Gibbet and finishes in Overton. Your race entry includes:

  • A bus ride from Overton to the start at Combe Gibbet (departing at 12.45)
  • The transportation of your kit back to the finish where shower and changing facilities are available
  • All road crossings professionally traffic managed

Please be aware that we have had a lot of rain recently. This is an off road race and several sections of the course are muddy. Off road shoes are highly recommended

We have also decided to not include finisher medals this year, instead we have decided to donate the budget for medals plus a proportion of the profits to the local Basingstoke and Andover Foodbanks.  This means we will be donating at least £500 but hopefully a lot more if the race sells out. While everyone loves a good medal it doesn’t feel right to be spending money on something where the manufacturing and transport has an impact on the environment and when there is a much higher volume of local people in need of help at the moment. We look forward to seeing you at the start line
