October/November 2019 Newsletter

A bumper newsletter out this month with updates for both October and November.

Hampshire XC season is in full swing and the Hampshire Road Race League has had a number of fixtures since our last newsletter.

The Christmas period is about to hit us, so please see inside regarding the cyclists’ race and the Christmas meal at Test Valley Golf Club.

There is also the get together on the Thursday before Christmas where refreshments will be provided after the handicap and if we are unlucky a few carols will be sung.

We have a good selection of reports from Harriers at the XC, the HRRL fixtures and a cannicross report from Clare

Winter Handicap 19/20 – Race 1 Result

Well done to everybody who ran the first Winter Handicap race this Thursday just gone. 18 runners lined up on the start but it was the newcomers Tad Buxton and Claire Mitchell who took first and second, with Mark Underwood rounding out the top 3.

In the time league it was Sean Holmes on top, with Lee Tolhurst second after a lengthy absence and Gareth Juliff 3rd.

August is usually a quiet month on the running scene and this year was no exception so we have a joint August and September bumper issue.

Reports from the start of the new HRRL season, the final Summer Handicap results and other various Harrier races further afield.

Summer Handicap – Final Result & Tables

Congratulations to Sean Holmes and Mia Stares who have won the Summer Handicap Time and Handicap leagues, respectively.

With all to run for in the final August handicap there were good performances from Mia, who grabbed 2nd to secure her win, and John Harrison who came 5th, enough to grab him a podium place. Katie Brothers was the winner in the night, so congratulations to her also.

Keep an eye out on the weekly emails and Facebook posts for the Winter Handicaps which run from October, the club calendar will also be updated shortly. Hopefully we should also be able to have another pizza night, so keep an eye out for that also.
